Unique Selling Points Remedios
1. Highest quality advice
Remedios offers the highest quality of advice available in the UK on the scientific and technical issues associated with contaminated land. Our technical team includes world leading experts in soil science and biosensor technology, and this has enabled us to design our exclusive bioluminescent sensors specifically to tackle the risk assessment issues raised by the new Part 2A contaminated land regime.
2. Fast testing methods
Our unique biosensor technology allows us to analyse soil samples and provide results in a shorter time-scale than can be achieved by alternative methods. This permits us to offer services that have not been previously available. An example of this is in carrying out full risk assessments of sites during environmental due diligence, when deadlines are approaching.
3. Certainty
Conventional testing relies on an interpretation of the history of the site to determine which chemicals will be tested for. Because Remedios tests for total toxicity, detailed site knowledge while useful is not absolutely essential and contamination is not missed because of
limitations or errors in the history of the site.
4. Relevance
Chemical testing provides accurate measurements of chemical substances tested for, but provides no information on whether this constitutes a risk as defined in the contaminated land regulations. There is, therefore, a danger that remedial measures are proposed because potential contaminants are present, rather than it having been demonstrated to constitute a risk. Remedios biosensors are a biological tool which can directly assess whether potential contaminating substances constitute a risk in terms of Part 2A regulations.
5. Predictive
Our methods provide unique and important information on whether a site is capable of bioremediation. Our risk assessments, therefore, not only quantify risk but also act as an initial stage in determining the optimum solution for clean up. When commissioned to design a clean up strategy, we test alternative solutions in a laboratory environment to optimise our strategies in terms of effectiveness, cost and time-scale to ensure that clean up is achieved in a way which meets customer requirements.
